These Terms govern your access to and use of the Kit website and tools (the “Service”). By using Kit, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
What Kit is
Kit provides browser-based utilities for everyday file and text tasks. Processing is intended to run client-side. Kit is offered as a static web application and as open-source software.
Software license
Kit source code is available under the MIT License. That license governs redistribution and use of the Kit-authored code. These Terms govern use of the hosted site and the Service online.
Audio and video tools load an FFmpeg WebAssembly engine (`@ffmpeg/core`) that is licensed GPL-2.0-or-later (it includes codecs such as H.264 and LAME MP3). That engine is served from this site and runs in your browser. Kit does not send your media to a server for processing. pdf.js and other libraries keep their own Apache, BSD, or MIT licenses. If you redistribute Kit with the FFmpeg engine, you must follow GPL terms for that engine.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Kit to:
- Violate applicable law
- Infringe others’ intellectual property or privacy rights
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or compromise hosting infrastructure
- Misrepresent Kit as a service that stores or transmits your files to us for processing when it does not
You are solely responsible for the files and content you process with Kit and for complying with laws that apply to that content.
No professional advice
Tool outputs are provided for convenience only. They are not legal, security, medical, or other professional advice. Features such as visual covers on PDF pages may not remove all underlying data—verify results for sensitive use cases.
Disclaimers
KIT IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Kit will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that results will meet your requirements.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tim G / TGthms and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or business, arising from your use of Kit—even if advised of the possibility. Total liability for any claim relating to Kit shall not exceed US$0 (the Service is free) or the minimum permitted by law.
Third-party services and links
Kit may link to external sites (for example the author’s site). Processing engines (pdf.js, FFmpeg WASM) are served from this site. Currency rates may be requested from Frankfurter’s public API when you open the currency converter, switch currencies, or tap Refresh. We are not responsible for third-party content, policies, or availability.
When this browser queries Frankfurter, the request may share standard network metadata (such as IP address, user agent, time, and requested URL). Amounts you type are not sent. Rates may come from this browser's cache and may be stale. They are daily reference data only, not a guarantee for trading, accounting, tax, or settlement purposes.
Changes to the Service and Terms
We may modify or discontinue features at any time. We may update these Terms by posting a new version with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing law
Except where mandatory consumer protections require otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws applicable where you live. Nothing here limits rights you may have under mandatory local law.
